WHY CHRISTIAN CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IS NECESSARY
Character can be defined as
the inner or moral qualities that form the pattern of an individual’s
behaviour. Simply put, character is the lifestyle or the sum total of a person.
Character, as a general term, can be good or bad
The development of a
Christian character is most vital for a number of reasons, among which are;

To help believers
avoid self-deception (James 1:22).
When you hear the word and
fail to do it, it will not profit you. That means the word will not reflect in
your character, thereby deceiving self and can be likened to a hypocrite.

To position and
show believers as the light of the World (Mt 5:13-16).
·
To help believers
grow and become more like God (2Cor.3:17-18, Eph. 4:13). The believer must be
an imitator of Christ (Eph. 5:1, 1Corinth 11:1).

To display
believers as letters for the World to read (2 Cor.3:1-3).
The World is watching us.
Therefore, we must ensure that we walk in the light so that people will not
misread or misinterpret us.

To open up
believers to God’ unlimited blessings (James1:25).
In your placement in the
kingdom is a measure of your character development. You cannot be placement
where your character will not sustain you. Kings 5:21-27)
·
To enhance the
flow of God’ power in the lives of believers (Heb1:8-9).
·
To equip
believers to fulfill the great commission of evangelism
(Mt.28:18-20,
Mk.16:20).
When your behavior is in
accordance with the word of God, you will be bold to tell others about Christ.
