Biomedical Engineer at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences
Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) is inviting applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to be considered for employment to fill vacant posts listed hereunder for MUHAS Academic Medical Centre (MAMC) located at its New Campus of Mloganzilla.
1. Biomedical Engineer II - 2 POSTS
a) Required Qualifications
Holder of Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution and registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as Professional Engineer. Computer skills will be an added advantage.
b) Duties and Responsibilities
i. Carries out preventive maintenance of biomedical equipments as per agreed schedules.
ii. Reviews plans for implementing preventive and corrective maintenance of biomedical equipments and other related machines.
iii. Coordinates installation of new biomedical equipments and other related machines in line with approved standards.
iv. Ensures standards of practice are maintained and safety precautions adhered to. .
v. Installs, adjust, maintain, repair biomedical equipments.
vi. Evaluates, Safety, Efficiency and Effectiveness of the biomedical equipments.
vii. Train clinicians and other Hospital and staff on the proper use of biomedical equipments.
viii. Participates in setting guidelines and standards for technical evaluation of tenders for supply of biomedical equipments.
ix. Writes specification of New biomedical equipments.
x. Maintains records of biomedical equipments.
xi. Maintains inventory of medical equipments of all existing and the incoming equipments.
xii. Inspects the incoming equipments before acceptance.
xiii. Ensures safe custody of the biomedical equipments.
xiv. Ensures timely availability of spares for repairs and maintenance.
xv. Reports big damage / breakdown of biomedical equipments in which repair is not within his/her capacity.
xvi. Prepares biomedical equipment database according to appropriate guidelines.
xvii. Performs any other related Duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by one's reporting officer

Degree in Biomedical Engineering Certificate.
Form IV and Form VI National Examination Certificates.
Computer Certificates where applicable,
Professional Certificates from respective boards where applicable,
One recent passport size picture and copy of birth certificate.
v. Form IV and Form VI result slips are strictly not accepted. Presentation of forged academic certificates and other information in the CV will necessitate to legal action.
vi. Applicants currently employed in the public service should route their application letters through their respective employers.
vii. Applicants should indicate three reputable referees with their reliable contacts.
viii. Certificates (from foreign Countries should be verified by Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) - {Degree Level} or National
Accreditation Council for Technical Education (NACTE) - (Diploma Level) or National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA) (Secondary Education)
