OVERCOMING FAMILY CHALLENGES
Challenges are not
strange to life. A wise man once said,
“Challenges are real to life but victory is real to the believer.”
The challenges are
the stepping stones to your becoming a champion.
Some challenges
facing the home are:
1. Covetousness.
A strong urge or
desire to possess something, especially something that belongs to someone else.
Discontentment is what usually drives people into covetousness. (Luke 12:15). Covetousness is a sin that
destroys and destabilizes many families and homes. Gehazi in 2 Kings 5:20
suffered the punishment of leprosy, for being covetous.
The cure for covetousness
is contentment. (1Timothy 6:6-8)
· “Life is in phases and men are in sizes.”
(Proverbs 4:18; Ecclesiastes 7:8; Hebrews 12:16-17).
· As a single person, it is wrong to base
your choice of life partner on the abundance of things the man has.
· As a woman, do not compare your husband
with your friend’s husband. Do not compare or nag your spouse for not
possessing what your friend or your friend’s spouse has.
(Proverbs 16:18;
Proverbs 28:16)
2. Barrenness.
Marriage is
designed for fruitfulness. (Deuteronomy 7:14). Barrenness is a curse, but thank
God that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law.
You need to find
out what God’s Word says about you, if you are faced with barrenness. If there
is anything missing in you (medically speaking) that is responsible for it, the
devil is the thief that stole it. (John 10:10). To overcome the darkness of
barrenness you go for the light of God’s Word and keep declaring that Word
until that barren situation changes. (John 1:5).
Build your faith
on the fact that:
· Everything God said when He was creating
the world came to be. Therefore, it is
impossible for what God has said concerning you and your home to fail.
· The counsel of the Lord stands for ever
(Psalm 33:11; Ecclesiastes 3:14; Luke 1:45).
· When God says: There shall nothing cast
their young, nor barren, He means there is no room for miscarriages or
barrenness in your life.
· God assures us that He will not break His
covenant, nor alter any word He has spoken. (Psalm 89:34)
3. Impatience
This is the
opposite of patience. Impatience is the inability to deal calmly with a
situation or wait for something. (Isaiah 28:16; Genesis 16:1-6; 2 Peter
3:9).
The cure for
impatience is simply patience backed by faith in the Word of God. (James 1:4). Don’t
give up! Trust God completely. (Hebrews
10:36)
Instrument to Overcome Challenges
Faith and Trust is
the important Instrument to Overcome Challenges. (Hebrews 11; 1 John. 5:4).
Faith is the
almighty weapon with which we overcome the challenges of life.
Use it on a daily
basis, if daily victory is your desire. It is the application of faith that
makes the difference.
Trust commands
God’s blessings (Jeremiah 17:6; Proverbs 10:22).
Trust in God then your
tomorrow will be secured.
Fear of tomorrow
produces anxiety in the lives of most people.
Perhaps, the enemy
keeps harassing you that if you don’t marry this year it is already too late
for you. Take it easy, God is more than
enough! It’s better to do it His own way
and at His own time in order to secure a great tomorrow. (Psalm 125:1).
